HSH Interior Renovation Update

A beautiful, sunny, very cool day in Dublin today. The picture to the left is Cinderella's Castle in Bavaria, Germany. Breathtakingly beautiful. I am going there one day! John are you listening? The claw bathtub has been placed back into the bathroom with new, beautiful hardware with the lovely gold feet AND running water! John did a wonderful job refinishing the tub. It looks like it was done by a professional! The white pedestal sink looks striking with the chrome/white faucet and hot/cold water knobs. The chrome shower knobs and shower head installed also. We have COLD running water flowing through. The hot water heater will be connected for hot water tomorrow.

Jamie, from rebath, completed the base trimwork however the crown molding above the shower needs modification and the linen closet built. Because the floor in the bathroom is not completely level, chaulk will need to be applied to the baseboard trimwork and other areas so that the ceiling, floor and walls look interconnected and clean to the eye throughout.  The bathroom cabinet and cabinet mirror, I expect will be installed within the next couple of days. The utility closet priming is done and ready for a first coat of paint. Tomorrow, a second coat of white paint will be applied to all walls in the bathroom except two walls in the toilet and sink area. Painting for all the trimwork, including the crown molding, windows and floor boards will begin tomorrow.

Jody, came by to help us design our basic kitchen. He will have a quote to us by tomorrow. We now know where the outlets in the kitchen will go so our electrician can begin wiring the back part of the house. We are waiting for the final quotes for the kitchen plumbing and back stairs. The last two lighting fixtures are in, so we will be treking to Atlanta in the next few days to pick them up. Once we firm up our numbers, then we can make our final purchases. We plan to break up the pale yellow in the upstairs hallway with a beautiful shade of pale green. The strapping, part of the bannister, will be repainted nantucket blue instead of white so the bannister will look uniform.

I put up my little Christmas tree today. Two days ago, 'The Navitity Scene' was put up on the front lawn of  Dublin's city hall. What a beautiful sight that I have not seen since childhood. Dublin is aglow with beautiful white lights, evergreen garland/wreaths with red bows in beautiful variations signaling the start of the Christmas season. I ran out of garland for the front stairs and front porch. We plan to complete our Christmas decorating for the house very soon.

So, tomorrow, the electrician will return to complete the hookup so the hot water can work along with the hookup for the washer and dryer. The remaining details of the bathroom, we will finish. It looks beautiful with the white tile floor!

Some pictures from today. Enjoy and check my blog for updates.

  1. Your bathroom pictures look wonderful! I have a friend who is from Dublin, I haven't ever been there but it always makes me think of Ireland.
